Pampered in Phuket

Winter blues whisk me away to a tropical paradise! I desperately needed sun, fun, and drinks adorned with umbrellas, and my wish was granted! After a quick stop in Thailand’s capital, Bangkok, I headed to Phuket, my dream destination. I wanted to be a bit removed from the action but still only a quick stroll away from it all, and I found my oasis at Amari Phuket.

Island expert, yep, that’s me, or at least what I aspire to be! Having lived on tropical islands before and a frequent visitor of many for decades, I’d like to think I know a bit about paradise. If a beach destination vacation is what you strive for, then Amari Phuket hits the mark. I wanted a secluded paradise with all my favorite luxurious amenities, and this beachfront resort and spa delivered everything I desired.

Sunsets and Champagne–I do not need much else. Everyone has different priorities when booking a hotel, and room size and amenities are always my top priority. Having opted for a one-bedroom club suite at Amari, the moment I walked in, I knew it had been a decision well-made. I always need morning coffee, and my fully-equipped kitchen had all the necessities to start my day off with a dose of caffeine. If you’ve read previous articles from me, you know I always encourage purchasing club level at a hotel when offered.

The additional amenities and exclusive services pay for themselves twofold. Besides the private pool, the buffet breakfast, and the complimentary happy hour, you will enjoy the privacy of the lounge to catch up on emails and any work looming over me. The surroundings gave me peace even when I needed to attend to the real world.

Location, Location, Location. The center of the action in Patong Beach is just a quick stroll from Amari Resort, and I ventured into town every day. Bangla Road is a must-see, especially in the evening, but I would not recommend going there with the children. The Big Buddha is a must-visit. If you prefer the more traditional shopping-type mall, make sure to visit Jungceylon Shopping Center, which has everything you could want or need. Across the street is Central Food Hall, a must-visit for numerous food options for any palate.

After a long day on the streets of Patong, the Breeze Spa at the resort was calling my name. I loved the serene atmosphere; no trip to Thailand is complete without an authentic Thai massage. I followed up on this relaxing bliss with a cocktail at Samutr Bar. You will find incredible happy hour prices with a gorgeous sunset view.

No more noodles this evening, please! Having been in Thailand for a week, I was craving some western dining options I am accustomed to. La Gritta Italian Restaurant delivered not only phenomenal gourmet Italian cooking but an unparalleled view of Patong Bay at sunset. Some of the best burrata I’ve ever had!

On the endless quest for sunset viewing locations, I fell in love with the jetty on the resort’s property. It’s a serene oasis where you can relax while enjoying the sunset after a long day. Work on your tan lines or explore the island of Phuket.

There are so many beautiful destinations on the island of Phuket, and I think it’s a must-visit when exploring Thailand. With Patong Beach being one of the top destinations on the island, I’d highly recommend Amari Phuket. This beachfront resort offers the best of both worlds: a tranquil private seafront location and great rooms and suites, all just steps from the pulse and infamous nightlife of Patong Beach. I’ll keep searching, but those sunset views from Amari will be hard to beat, so expect me back….soon!
